This activity starts with the transport by vehicle towards the village “Asim Zeneli”. The path with medium difficulty passes through the pedestrian road that first descends to the stream east of the village “Asim Zeneli” and then begins the climb to the hill of Antigone. Walking traverses a terrain with soft and massive Mediterranean shrubland and lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

You will enter the park of Antigone from the west and you will find yourself in front of the agora of the ancient city built in 295 BC. The city built by King Piro of Epirus in honor of his wife Antigone was discovered around the 1970s. Since that period about 7% of the city’s ruins have been identified. The journey inside the park of Antigone will stop at the paleo-Christian mosaic of the 5th century on the floor of a basilica built of ancient stones. There will be a detailed description of the finds and ruins in the artisan neighborhood where the social status and life of the inhabitants of Antigone will be explained and at the end of the visit we will continue towards the acropolis of the ancient city. Inside the park it can take about an hour to relax. The city with a strategic position offers an excellent panorama of the valley.

The return route passes through the path of the village of Epirot at the foot of the medieval village of Tranoshishtë. The descent is of low to medium difficulty with strong fractures and sparse beauty. The trail is located next to one of the most important water sources in the area while the pastoral atmosphere and small herds accompany the journey constantly regardless of the season.

After returning to the village “Asim Zeneli” we will stop for a picnic lunch in the yard of a family from the village. Area sachet Roasted in handicrafts, pickles and grape brandy will finalize this outdoor, time and history travel experience.
